In 2015, Amanda joined MMBC to work as a Project Assistant for Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n windfarm, more specifically, to assist in maximizing the Mi’gmaw workforce for the project. Very quickly, she was promoted to the project coordinator, where she not only helped community members find employment on MU but also with several other projects, including Gesgapegiag Road work with Mamu, McInnis Cement Plant, as well as other windfarms in Gespegawa’gi. Once the construction phase of MU was completed, she accepted a position with the Mi’gmawei Mawiomi Secretariat as a program administrator for the Ango’tmeg Nm’tgnen department. While there, she assisted the consultation & accommodation manager with meaningful consultations.
In 2019, Amanda decided to take on contracts working in pre-employment until she took a position as a Training and Employment Counselor for the Gesgapegiag Human Resource Development Commission. While there, she helped community members navigate through the pandemic and helped to create programs and workshops to deal with isolation, mental health, and food security.
With her youngest child leaving home for university this year, she decided to take on a new challenge and return to work for MMBC.
Originally from New Carlisle, Qc, Amanda has lived in Gesgapegiag for over 25 years, raising two indigenous children.
