Kirt is the project manager at MMBC since 2018. He has been working on the educational, training and business aspects of the Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n (MU) windfarm. Using his natural ability to communicate and mobilize people, he engaged the Mi’gmaq community in the MU project by organizing onsite visits of the windfarm and promoting careers in this sector to youth. Kirt has a very versatile, hands-on, and human approach that resembles the holistic and inter-connective manner of the Mi’gmaq culture.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business at the University of New Brunswick and then lived in Ontario for 4 years, worked in banking, automotive sales, and partnered with his spouse to launch a seniors care center venture. Back in Listuguj, he has helped several business start-ups, worked for the Band as Fisheries Coordinator and Manager and is now one of its board members in the economic development department.

Born in Listuguj, he was always exposed to traditional values, as well as substantial political discourse. For Kirt, occupying the ancestral territory is an important part of his life as he spends a lot of time in the woodland at his cabin or on the water.
